The Baroque castle in Vrbno pod Pradědem was built in the 17th century by the lords of Vrbno. In the early 19th century, it was rebuilt in the Empire style and since 1821 it has been owned by the Grohmann family, industrialists, who gradually adapted the castle to the needs of the family until it was nationalized in 1948 – hence its name “Grohmann Castle”. During the communist era, the castle had a turbulent history – from a boarding school for apprentices to a recreational center. It wasn’t until after 2012 that it began to be restored to its original state. And in this form, the castle is now offered for sale.
The complex of two-story buildings is located in a fenced and well-maintained park with a volleyball court, fountain, and a small pond (500m2) on the outskirts of the village. Over the years, additional buildings in Baroque and Empire style were added to the main building, creating a complex of buildings that touch at the corners around a rectangular courtyard. The main building served for representative purposes, while the others were used for accommodation. On the ground floor, there is a restaurant, technical facilities, and on the upper floor, connected by a glassed-in balcony with all wings, there are accommodation spaces. In the park, there are two more buildings – garages with a former boiler room and a caretaker’s house, which is awaiting reconstruction.
